Honoring the Life and Legacy of Mrs. Lou Sartor
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Mrs. Lou Sartor, the beloved Executive Director of the Spartanburg Soup Kitchen. A pillar of kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication, Mrs. Lou led the Spartanburg Soup Kitchen for over 20 years, ensuring that no one in our community went hungry. Her impact is immeasurable, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.
At the Spartanburg Soup Kitchen, Mrs. Lou did more than serve meals—she served hope, dignity, and love. Every day, she greeted those in need with warmth and compassion, making every person who walked through the doors feel seen and valued. She turned the Soup Kitchen into a sanctuary for so many, creating a place where people not only found nourishment but also encouragement, kindness, and an unwavering sense of community.
Her influence extended far beyond the walls of the Spartanburg Soup Kitchen. She built lasting partnerships with churches, businesses, donors, and volunteers, uniting people from all walks of life around a common cause: serving others. News stations told her story, friends and family admired her, and those she helped never forgot the kindness she showed them. Her reach stretched far and wide, touching lives in ways we may never fully comprehend.
To the Arrowhead Design Group team, and especially to our President, Lanie Carter, Mrs. Lou was more than a leader—she was a dear friend. Reflecting on the impact Mrs. Lou had on her life, Lanie shared:
“Mrs. Lou was one of a kind—an incredibly influential, kind-hearted, and loving soul. She was the kind of person you could never possibly forget, and I will carry her memory with me for as long as I live. From the moment I met her, I knew she was someone I wanted to know, learn from, and be inspired by. For someone so amazing, there are truly no words that can fully capture her legacy. But what I do know is that I will strive to lead with kindness in my own life, as Mrs. Lou so effortlessly showed and inspired me to do. I feel incredibly blessed to have known her both personally and professionally over the last several years, and I am deeply saddened by her passing. Her legacy of love and generosity will forever remain in my heart.”
As our community mourns this great loss, we also celebrate the beautiful life Mrs. Lou lived. Her unwavering faith and servant’s heart were at the core of everything she did. To honor her memory, let’s continue her mission of kindness and service. Let’s come together, as she always encouraged us to do, and carry forward the love and generosity she exemplified every single day.
Rest in peace, Mrs. Lou. Your legacy will live on in the hearts of those you inspired.
