Behind the Scenes at Fifth Third Park: A Collaboration with FIC Foam Insulation & Enverge Spray Foam

We were thrilled to team up with our friends at FIC Foam Insulation Company and Enverge Spray Foam to produce a video showcasing their work inside Spartanburg’s newest landmark: Fifth Third Park, Home of the Hub City Spartanburgers.

With FIC leading the installation and Enverge providing their cutting-edge spray foam product, we had the unique opportunity to capture this project before the stadium opened its doors. From behind-the-scenes tours to watching the foam fly, this was one job we won’t forget.

Spartanburg, South Carolina, is about to welcome an exciting addition to its community: Fifth Third Park, a brand-new minor league baseball stadium. Home to the Spartanburgers, this state-of-the-art facility is a significant investment in the city’s sports and entertainment culture, bringing fans, families, and athletes together in a cutting-edge venue. Playing a crucial role in the construction of this project is Foam Insulation Company. Servicing the Carolinas, they were entrusted with delivering high-performance spray foam insulation to enhance the stadium’s energy efficiency, durability, and overall performance.

A PROJECT OF GRAND SCALE

This ambitious stadium project required over 50,000 square feet of Enverge OnePass closed-cell spray foam, which was applied to the underside of the concrete podium decking. The selection of spray foam for this application was critical in ensuring the facility could maintain consistent temperature control, reduce energy consumption, and enhance long-term structural integrity.

Foam Insulation Company, with over 20 years of industry experience, is ABAA accredited, making it the ideal contractor for this large-scale commercial insulation project. With a proven track record of delivering high-quality insulation solutions, the company brought its expertise to the forefront, ensuring the job was completed efficiently, on time, and to the highest standards.

WHY ONEPASS SPRAY FOAM?

The selection of Enverge OnePass closed-cell spray foam was based on its ability to provide superior insulation, air sealing, and moisture resistance in a single application. Unlike traditional insulation materials, closed-cell spray foam creates a continuous, high-performance barrier that significantly reduces air leakage, which is crucial for a facility like a baseball stadium that experiences varying environmental conditions throughout the year.

Foam Insulation Company applied over 50,000 sq. ft. of Enverge OnePass closed-cell spray foam to the underside of the concrete podium decking.

Aksel Wagner, Head of Commercial Sales at Foam Insulation Company, said the choice of OnePass was a strategic one: “Enverge helped bring its expertise to this project with bid support, technical service, and on-time deliveries. The high R-value per inch and the ability to spray up to four inches per pass made it the perfect solution for this stadium.”

THE BENEFITS OF CLOSED-CELL SPRAY FOAM IN STADIUM CONSTRUCTION

For large-scale commercial projects such as this stadium, selecting the right insulation is crucial for both performance and longevity. OnePass closed-cell spray foam brings several key benefits:

1. Superior Insulation and Air Sealing

  • The product provides high R-value per inch, ensuring optimal thermal performance.
  • It significantly reduces air infiltration, which helps maintain a consistent indoor climate and enhances occupant comfort.

2. Moisture Resistance and Structural Integrity

  • OnePass acts as an effective moisture barrier, reducing the risk of mold and mildew growth.
  • By preventing moisture penetration, the foam helps protect structural components, extending the lifespan of the facility.

3. Energy Efficiency and Cost Savings

  • Spray foam, with it’s ability to provide a tight building envelope, leads to reduced energy costs by minimizing heating and cooling losses.
  • The durability of closed-cell spray foam ensures long-term performance, reducing the need for maintenance.

MEETING TIGHT DEADLINES AND BUDGET DEMANDS

For any commercial project of this scale, adhering to a strict timeline and budget is a priority. One of the key reasons Enverge OnePass was selected for this project was its ability to be sprayed up to four inches per pass, allowing for faster installation without compromising performance. This feature helped the Foam Insulation Company team complete the project efficiently, ensuring that insulation work did not delay the overall construction schedule.

Additionally, on-time material deliveries and technical support from Enverge were instrumental in keeping the project on track. Wagner emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, “From start to finish, Enverge provided the necessary resources and expertise to ensure we met the project’s insulation requirements while staying on target with our deliverables.”

A FACILITY BUILT TO LAST

Fifth Third Park is more than just a baseball stadium; it’s a testament to innovation, efficiency, and durability. Thanks to the advanced insulation properties of OnePass closed-cell spray foam, this facility will maintain consistent indoor temperatures, lower energy costs, and resist moisture-related damage for decades to come. With Spartanburg’s hot and humid climate, the stadium’s insulation plays a crucial role in ensuring comfort and longevity for players, staff, and visitors alike.

THE FUTURE OF INSULATION IN COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION

As commercial construction projects continue to prioritize energy efficiency and sustainability, spray foam insulation is becoming an increasingly popular choice. The combination of thermal performance, air sealing, and moisture control makes it an ideal solution for environments that demand long-term durability and cost-effectiveness.

For Fifth Third Park, the use of Enverge OnePass closed-cell spray foam ensures that this landmark facility is not only built to meet today’s standards but will continue to perform at a high level for years to come. For Foam Insulation Company, this project is another successful demonstration of why they remain a trusted name in insulation across the Carolinas.

With the community eagerly awaiting the opening of this new stadium, one thing is certain: behind the scenes, high-performance insulation is playing a major role in ensuring that the Spartanburgers—and their fans—enjoy an exceptional experience, season after season.
