New Chair at the Spartanburg Soup Kitchen: Lanie Carter
The Spartanburg Soup Kitchen recently elected a new Chair, and it happens to be Arrowhead’s very own Lanie Carter. In May 2016, Lanie founded Arrowhead Design Group, a digital marketing company, and Burg Apparel, a local clothing line representing the City of Spartanburg. Along with being a Spartanburg native, she graduated from USC Upstate with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design. Lanie has a deep love for her community and joined the Soup Kitchen board in hopes of expanding her knowledge of the issues facing the homeless in the area.
Lanie has continued to stay active in the Spartanburg community, winning the Spartanburg Young Professional in Communication award in 2019 and the Small Business of the Year award in 2020. She graduated from Leadership Spartanburg in 2020 and received the Upstate Young Alumni Award given by USC Upstate in 2021. She’s previously served on two other boards in the area including SCC Digital Design Board of Advisors and the Spartanburg Young Professionals (SYP) Board of Advisors.
In her free time, you can find Lanie doing home DIY projects, hanging out with her family and pets, or playing golf. She aims to make a youthful impact as one of the youngest board members currently at the Soup Kitchen.
Her first few steps as Chair have been to start the rebranding process and address the wants and needs of the hardworking staff that pour their heart and soul into what they do. Citizens of Spartanburg should expect big and positive changes over the next two years while Lanie is Chair.
